Our team is working to advance wildlife crossing projects on Montana roads.
What we’re currently working on:
NEW Program and Planning Tool.
After years of planning, we are excited to announce two new and innovative ways which wildlife/ vehicle conflict can be identified and addressed across the state.
The MWTP Planning Tool is intended to assist stakeholders in identifying areas of need to focus coordinated resources and expertise for further analysis and aids in developing project-level recommendations.
The MWTP Project Program establishes an avenue for public-private partnerships to propose and implement wildlife accommodation projects across our state highways.

Collaborating and building partnerships.
MSWP is honored to be included in the Montana Wildlife and Transportation Partnership with Montana Department of Transportation and Montana Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks. We are proud of the collaborative nature of the Partnership and look forward to working together far into the future.
Advocating for science-based policies.
We are working with decision-makers to advance policies that consider wildlife from the beginning in highway planning. We do that by identifying the most important stretches of highway for wildlife crossings, securing funding to implement those projects, and garnering community support for highway improvements.
Raising public awareness.
Many of us have experienced a wildlife-vehicle collision or seen a dead animal on the side of the road. Our goal is to educate the public that there are solutions we can all support.
